Rainy Days Are Coming

It has been raining for the past few days. Typhoon Falcon entered Philippine territories last week and its five northern Luzon provinces were under signal number one.
Some people want a fine day. Of course, you can definitely do whatever you want when it’s a sunny day like going to the mall, strolling at the park, going to job interviews perhaps? But some prefer a rainy day. It’s like craving for being alone compared to hanging out with a lot of people or drinking at the bar without any company.

Me, I like rainy days better than a hot sunny day. I don’t know. And I don’t find it weird. But I’m talking about just a mild rain, not a typhoon causing flood “Ondoy” thing (damn, I wish that won’t happen again).
Anyway, one thing I hate about it though. The damn traffic in Manila. I once asked a jeepney driver as why vehicles are everywhere whenever it rains. And the driver told me that they always drive to the side of the road for commuters and because of that, they can’t pass through easily.
Some people said they feel kind of sad while it’s raining. They say the drizzle and darkness of the day makes them feel bored. The dark days makes them remember their not-so-good experiences.
On a different perspective, the rain makes me willing to walk around since its windy and all. No terrible sweat. It’s making me enjoy a hot cup of coffee more with some very nice cigarette on the side. Making me stay at home and save more money. There are actually a lot of things to do at home while it’s drizzly outside. You can cook your favorite comfort food like champorado and tuyo, sinigang, eat your heart out with a bag of your favorite potato chips or a bar of Reese’s chocolate, clean your room, watch good movies, laying in bed while listening to your favorite music, wearing a nice pair of PJs, drink beer with a good friend while chitchatting or just simply tucking yourself in your soft and comfortable el cama and have a very nice sleep. Also, I find it cool to be able to wear your favorite jacket, sweatshirt, boots and bonnet while hanging out in a local coffee shop down the street or your favorite mall. So nice to dress up while feeling the cold wind in your face.

A rainy day is not as bad as having yourself drenched. There are still pleasant things to do. As the weather today suggest, I’m planning to go straight home and enjoy my cup of hot chocolate.

Fighting the Boredom

Why do we feel bored? It’s normal in our lives not to do anything in a day. Busy people complain that they seldom have time to rest. On the other hand, people who don’t do much complain that they get bored and got nothing to do but stare at other people faces.
It sucks to feel jaded. But most lucky people can actually afford to do anything whenever they feel like it. They shop, go to the mall, go out of town, anything money can buy and make them feel alive again. But how about the tambay in our neighborhood who doesn’t have any decent work? People who seem to kill time without anything to do. Most likely, their schedule will be like this: wake up, eat, watch television, get bored, sleep, go outside, get bored, sleep, eat, get bored, smoke, get bored, go home, drink a couple of beers (if they’re lucky enough), get bored, and then sleep again. Same goes every damn day.

On the lighter side, there are still positive things to do when you’re bored. I guess the laziest person wouldn’t agree but we all need to make our day productive at least. Kill time by doing something new. It’s not about the luxury of being financially wealthy to do those kinds of things, but we can still do simple things to make boredom erased from our everyday lives.
We can do some thing prolific from which we can learn new stuff. Like, reading a good book, maybe about cooking, for those who love to eat their heart out in boredom. Fix some damaged appliances that needs a little fix, clean your house or yourself (for God’s sake), spend quality time with loved ones and talk to them about their interests. You can also surf the net or chat with your old pals, or maybe, if you got a lot of ideas in mind, you can write.

Wait, why am I talking about these things?
Yes, like you, I’m always fighting boredom.

Cyber-related Crimes, Laganap!

May direktor, call center agent etc.

BLOGGING? AN ONLINE DIARY

Whenever you type the word blog in office word, it will be underlined in red, meaning it was used grammatically incorrect or your spelling is just wrong. I tried to check out the real meaning of this word, and according to dictionary.com, a blog is a noun meaning a type of online diary that someone makes available to other people on the internet.  A very popular way to communicate one's personal details without any social interaction. Furthermore, it came from the word “web log.” Meaning, if you are a blogger like what I’m apparently doing right now, you write anything about everything under the sun (and moon), or perhaps you should just be in front of your pc.

There are different types of blogs… informal, like those comedic writings about life, food, fashion? Anything that will interest people. Mostly for opinion and thought.  And formal, those that have political, humanitarian intention, those “tabloidilic” type probably... I mean those boring ones. Hehe...

There are a lot of social networking sites that we can use to communicate to old friends, relatives and alike.  In the world were living, where views and judgment to certain things are very much welcome especially on the World Wide Web, A diary is supposedly something you keep for yourself, but now, its totally different. It’s something that you tell the whole world. Something you share something, like a part of yourself. Showing how good or boring you can write or just simply saying that “hey, I have a lot of ideas.”

I admit I’m not so fond of writing online before. But then when I started having weird ideas about life, politics, dreams etc. that I want to share, I considered myself already one of “them.” It became my “escapism,” something I do to relieve stress. I can write anything. I can write my happiness and hatred. I can share my knowledge somehow.

And now, it became my “job.” I get paid for gathering my thoughts. For bringing what’s up, and for simply typing what’s in my head for a certain point in time. Like, I can do it in the office, a coffee shop, or in the comfort of my own bedroom. But it’s not as easy especially if you’re doing it to get paid. Sometimes you ran out of ideas to the point you can’t really write something else and you’ll feel dumb. But then, once something comes up, the typewriting starts ticking again.

So far, having mentioned the red line thing, I had 3 already on my notepad. I don’t know why? I guess it’s because the word per se isn’t formal that’s why it’s not recognizable by word processor. Hehe...

THE ANTI TRAFFIC PLAN

The Metro Manila-PIVAS or Provincial Integrated Bus Axis System will be starting to build before the year ends. This is a project by MMDA. According to them, this project will be a “World-class facility, like an international airport. There will be departure and arrival areas. In addition, all the terminals in Cubao, Blumentritt, Sampaloc, and Pasay will be on this project as well.

MMDA’s target is to minimize the number of public vehicles in Metro Manila everyday. Furthermore, almost 13,000 buses are traveling and half of these are provincial bus.

The Provincial Bus Operators Association of the Philippines says that MMDA has a very good intention but they are hoping that MMDA will give consideration especially when it comes to the masses. Also, according to some interviews, there are some local commuters who don’t like the idea of riding two buses just to go to the said port.

Tomorrow, MMDA will present their project to Malacañang.

For me, this is actually a good idea. Like just this morning, it took me 1 and a half hour just to work. Like damn! Traffic here in Manila is just too frustrating especially during rush hours or your line of work is in the morning.

Unlike the old administration of PCSO headed by Mr. Manoling Morato, We just hope that MMDA will really consummate the budget that the government will give them to make this project possible. Not only it will help our local commuters to have a traffic free environment but also it will make Metro Manila to look better.

Sarili niyang usok?

Meron pang nalalaman na “We stand by the truth” sheets itong si Morato.

MANOLING MORATO IN HIS PLUNDER CASE. PART I

There has been a lot of incongruity from the old PCSO administration that was brought up to the prying eyes of public for the past months and names have been mentioned. Last Saturday in Failon Ngayon, ABS-CBN, and Mr. Ted Failon have disclosed the facts from the PCSO anomalies.

Here are the facts:

P2.7 Billion were spent for the PCSO machines.
P1 Billion were spent every year to rent the machines.
P25 Million if they will BUY the said machine.

P42 Billion were spent for the termal papers and signed a venture for half a century or in a span of 50 years but eventually cancelled last June 9.

The total rent for the machines since 2001 was P11 Billion on which if the old administration did save, PCSO could have built more hospitals, 11,500 ambulances and helped 37,000 cancer patients.

All the anomalies that happened since 1995, P5.3 Billion was spent for the PR fund, P10.7 Billion for the least agreement in PGMC and P42 Billion for the TMA termal papers. To sum it all up, the total money spent was a whopping P68 Billion.

Reportedly, the government filed a plunder case against Manoling Morato. Plunder means to rob of goods or valuables by open force, as in war, hostile raids, brigandage, etc. / to plunder the PUBLIC TREASURY.

Looks like the ex chairperson of PCSO got a dose of his own medicine. After all the false allegations that he declared during the current administration of Ms. Margie Juico, it was he who in fact stole the wealth of PCSO.

Alarming news indeed. People got dismayed especially those unfortunate Filipinos who are hoping that PCSO would help them. Instead of facilitating the needs of the poor as many as they can, the new administration is now facing a big problem because of the greediness of Morato.

What a shame! Morato always says that he is pro poor and the local government agencies should assist them in every way possible but in the end he’s the one who’s stealing their hope to fight for life and live for their families and loved ones.

Hope Morato can feel how it is to be on their shoes so he can experience how appalling it is to be sick and rely from others just to live.

HE’S NOT AFRAID OF THE GHOST

Just recently, a story about how it is possible to make bogus names into reality caught me. I mean, in this world we are living, billions of name combinations can be created…and we all can do it, maybe just for fun perhaps? But this particular person, he’s good as a dirty professional crook named… I don’t know. Allegedly, this person belonged to the higher office of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office under Ex-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

In PCSO, they have this guarantee letter where they give it to the underprivileged as a proof they can present as their hospital payment. According to PCSO director Mabel Villarica-Mamba, they have discovered 17 boxes of suspicious guarantee letters on which they believed it’s for the “ghost patients.” To support this, Mamba and her group made an investigation and it turned out that 10% to 20% guarantee letters are for true patients and the remaining are for sham names.

In addition to this, they believed that it is possible that this person together with his minions and the hospital conspired so they would make this hoax come to life. Just like a magician trying to perform his abracadabra to gain money.

What the?! Millions of pesos should be given equally to the deprived Juan Dela Cruz who are sick and can’t afford to live and sustain their life. Many unfortunate Filipino citizens deserve to receive help and support from our government. But what are these people doing? Stealing their only hope to live? Or much worst, STEALING Filipino’s wealth.

This person should feel ashamed. Saying and throwing bad things about other people. Lying constantly as if he doesn’t exist in a world where there is no conscience. As the quote goes: “One mustn't criticize other people on grounds where he can’t stand perpendicular himself.” Manoling Morato, this one goes for you!

The Chaotic Classroom; Part II

I wrote something about the situation and how chaotic public school classrooms looked like started Monday, the first day of school. Some students were sitting in a decent chair; most stand up and sit their ass off on the floor. 80 to 90 students were forcedly put in one room because these schools doesn’t have budget to add more new ones.

As I was reading the latest news on what’s going on in the PH, I read a new topic that’s been going on with PCSO, the old administration under Manoling Morato and another anomaly that he did.

In the world of public service, there a lot of people saying and throwing nasty things about each other, saying they are the “good one” and having other people think their enemies are the worst people in the world. But heck, for all you know, they are the one’s whose doing such evil stuff.

Title of bog: “This lotto ‘winner’ is still poor.” Just to make the story short, Morato allegedly didn’t give out the money to lotto winner that was dated March to April 2009. Have told the old, poor man that has the ticket on his hands that it was counterfeit, and that somebody else, a driver from Lipa City, had bagged the jackpot. Without any thing else, they just asked the poor man to go to court instead if he still wants to argue about it.

What the?! He’s saying a lot of bad things about the current chairperson of PCSO and how bad their administration is and now he has a lot of issues which are actually proven already.

He has been saying about treating the poor right and he’s been acting like the superman of the poor and now what? He did a very ghastly thing to an old, poor man who was just fighting for what is rightfully his.

Question is, where’d the money go? If it just went to his pocket or his bank account somewhere in Switzerland or the west coast, and if he always says he’s on the poor side and feels for them, why can’t he at least give out money or donation to these poor students perhaps? If he’s that good as what he’s saying, Morato should have in any case, also helped those by his scam money, and so he can also make this as a way to have his name fresh again.

A CHAOTIC CLASSROOM

I was watching the news last night and there’s this “back to school” story that got me dismayed. June 6, 2011 was the official start of classes in the Philippines. In Batasan Hills National High School, an overwhelming number of students filled the school grounds during their flag ceremony. For its big school population, classes had to be conducted in two shifts. The first shift runs from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m., and the second at 1 p.m. until 8 p.m.

When I was still in high school, I never experienced having a disorganized classroom. Maybe because I studied in a private school where a classroom is composed of just 30 to 40 students and where the room is big, big enough not to let students sit on the floor. But then, I was disturbed by the fact that a lot of students in public schools in our country is suffering from a hot and congested classroom while they’re trying to learn. 80 to 90 students were being taught in just one room and almost 30% of them sat on the floor while the 10% were standing. A side from this, since they a lot of students, they can’t provide students decent and complete books that they need for the whole school year. In addition, the teacher finds a hard time teaching since it’s hard for the students to hear what their educator is talking about so they ended up almost losing their voice at the end of the day.

Question is, why is it for two months vacation, they haven’t built any additional classrooms? Every year, the Department of Education (DepEd) has their budget to at least improve what they have to improve, fix what they have to fix, and most of all, to give solution on the reoccurring problems that is transpiring on their respective schools.

Yes, students will say that it’s ok and they are used to it. But then, I believe it’ll be better if our government especially our president can focus on what’s going on with our education system, fix it and make it better for our youth and for them to be eager in studying well.

Another incongruity by Manoling

There has been very important news that was exposed by Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Neri Javier Colmenares. According to her, an approximately P42-billion worth of thermal paper contract was entered to PCSO by an Australian company TMA. This said contract has a life span of 50 years that was allegedly questioned by Colmenares. In addition, the contract was said to be approved without proper bidding procedures. However Morato denied the allegations quickly saying that the contract was legal and approved by NEDA because of the benefits that the government will gain.

Morato explained that even if thermal papers quality improves in the next 50 years, Morato also said TMA products' quality is way better than any local and international competitors.

Aside from the contract, Colmenares said that a big amount of PCSO funds, amounting to approximately P7.2 billion were surreptitiously spent on advertising.

Colmenares questioned why the contract should have a life span of half a century and how come it has to be with a foreign company and not Philippines’ own. Also, according to Colmenares, there’s nothing to advertise about since there’s no competition, people buy tickets especially the pot is really high.

So where are these tons of money going? Is it going to nonsense projects of Manoling Morato or straight to his pockets? And now, Manoling Morato throws a lot of false allegations to Juico. What a shame Manoling!
According to Colmenares, If proven that funds have been mismanaged, the members of the PREVIOUS PCSO board of directors must be held liable and cases against them can be filed at the Ombudsman and at the Department of Justice.

THE DIVORCE SCHEME

After the hot and interesting proposal of the Reproductive Health Bill (RH Bill), now comes the bill to legalize divorce in the Philippines. Now, the country is facing another battle between the church and state. This issue has been discussed and talked about in different blog sites from numerous anti and pro citizen both the young and adult sector.

According to dictionary.com, MARRIAGE is the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc. while DIVORCE is a judicial declaration dissolving a marriage in whole or in part, especially one that releases the husband and wife from matrimonial obligations. Easier read than done it is. The meaning itself of these two words convey to both the church and the state and a lot of the adult population is undergoing difficult situation concerning living together or simply being in a committed relationship.

As opposed to this idea, 60% of the adult population still believes in the sanctified marriage and the significance of living together as a married man and wife. To raise children and assemble a beautiful portrait of one big happy family. Grounds include psychological incapacity, failure to comply with essential marital obligations and irreconcilable differences.

Most people say that people should have thought not only once but a lot of times first before getting married. Being together and being in the holy matrimony of marriage is a hard work and there are a lot of factors to be considered so it’ll work like commitment, trust, loyalty, sacrifice etc.

All of us want it and though people who are getting married swore and vow next to God, for sure, He wouldn’t want a husband or a wife to live miserably. He simply just wants us to be happy.
